Along Highway 61, Blytheville shared in the road’s immense blues music fame. Generations of talented blues musicians passed through and performed in Blytheville, the largest city in Mississippi County, Arkansas, as they departed Memphis. Though music is still integral to the city, it has now found itself on a road of industrial growth. Nucor, Aviation Repair Technologies, and Tenaris — all in the steel industry — have contributed to the city’s massive growth and economic development. Blytheville is also home to Arkansas Northeastern College, whose dedication to its students and local residents has led to an admirable level of unity and productiveness difficult for any city to achieve.
