La Crosse — the largest city in Wisconsin’s western border and sits along the Mississippi River — has recently grown into a major technology and medical center for the region. Healthcare companies and hospitals, institutions of higher education (such as University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, Viterbo University, and Western Technical College) and the School District of La Crosse are major employers. In addition, the headquarters of Kwik Trip convenience stores and City Brewing Company are located in La Crosse. Named one of the “Most Secure Places to Live in the U.S.,” it is understandable why many proudly call La Crosse home.
