Brett Hoover

Hoover-BrettFormerly the Associate Director of the Ivy League, Hoover transitioned from college athletics to the field of education in 2008. He currently oversees digital strategies and data systems for New Haven Promise and has been deeply involved in event logistics, including serving as editor of the 2014 Promise annual. New Haven Promise has the largest and most engaged social media following among the nation’s programs.

Recently Hoover has undertaken the Cities of Promise initiative in an effort to provide resources, news and support for Promise cities as well as those aspiring to join them.

With a background in transitioning the image and awareness of organizations, he transformed the Ivy League website into a broad-based outlet which, at its height, was drawing millions of page views per month. He then spun those efforts into several related sites, including those focused on black history, women’s history, the Olympics and the League’s 50th anniversary. Several of his written pieces won district and national awards.

Hoover has also served as the Chief Digital Officer for the Armory Foundation in New York City and became a master official at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia in April, an honor bestowed on those who have served the event for 25 years.

From 2010 to 2012, the University of Dayton graduate was the Assistant Director of X-Mester, an innovative summer residential experience designed for high school juniors. In those three years that initiative paired more than 50 Fellows — including 15 Ivy League athletes — with nearly 400 at-risk high schoolers, who collectively earned about 1,200 college credits during the program.
