The Executive Director of College and Career Readiness for Hartford Public Schools, Dinnall — a native of Springfield, Mass. — is a 24-year veteran of urban public education. With her knowledge of urban education and her belief that “college is for everyone,” she provides a practitioner’s perspective on teaching and learning as well a unique insight into the untapped potential of inner-city youth. It is her focus to give direction to building and sustaining a college-going culture and her life’s passion to do her part in dismantling the school-to-prison pipeline.
She has served in numerous positions and on several boards and committees, including the Springfield Public Schools Superintendent Advisory Board, the Springfield Public Schools Superintendent Search Committee and the College Board’s National Office of School Counselor Advocacy Advisory Board.
In her tenure in her current role, Dinnall’s accomplishments include serving as moderator of a town hall meeting on College and Career Readiness with U.S. Department of Education Secretary Arne Duncan; co-authoring and researching a successful $13.3 million U.S. Department of Education High School Graduation Initiative grant; and receiving the APEX Award of Excellence for Blended Learning. In addition, she has presented at numerous conferences and seminars and has served as panelist regarding the topic of equity and access to education.
