Wayne Locust

Locust-WayneAs the Vice President for Enrollment Planning and Management at the University of Connecticut, Locust oversees enrollment policy initiatives and the operations of departments in his division, which include Undergraduate Admissions, Student Financial Aid Services, the Registrar’s Office, Orientation Services and the Visitor’s Center.

Locust is committed to recruiting and enrolling diverse incoming classes with outstanding academic potential to earn a degree. His myriad responsibilities range from serving as a member of the President’s cabinet to chairing the University’s Retention & Graduation Task Force. Since returning from the University of Albany three years ago (Wayne formerly served as UConn’s Director of Admissions), he has been a significant change agent for UConn. Adjustments in Admissions and Financial Aid strategies and processes have resulted in more diverse entering cohorts and a stronger academic profile. And, with his leadership of the Retention & Graduation Task Force, the University has re-energized its focus to spawn initiatives to grow the number of women and underrepresented minorities in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields.

Locust’s ongoing efforts will continue to play a pivotal role to ensure success of students at UConn, including the 121 New Haven Promise Scholars currently enrolled there. A native of Philadelphia, Wayne is a graduate of West Chester University in Pennsylvania and holds a B.A. in Political Science and a Masters in Administration.
